'Big brother! Big brother!'
'Hmm… Hungary!' He felt her face melting behind his jacket, he turned and bent down. His fingers brushed against her hair so it'll remove some of her hair behind her ears. She smiled as he did; she placed her palm against his cheek.
'So is something the matter, Hungary?' She shook around her head. 'No. I just missed you. Lately you've been busy and we just couldn't spend any time together…' Her head was down when she said that and her eyes were filled with sparkles.
'I missed you, too Hungary and since I'm not doing anything special today, how about you and I have our little fun?'
'Just you and me?!'
'Just you and me, doll… I promise!'

But that didn't last. As they grew up they didn't spend a lot of time together, Hungary was becoming a fine young lady. She was learning about responsibilities, and England became busier with work and meetings that they didn't have any time to spend together like they did before and little by little they started to lose contact with each other and they were apart. They couldn't visit each other anymore or perhaps they didn't want to, maybe they forgot that they were the bestest friends before.
They saw each other again though. It was another meeting that America organized, this time he wanted to talk about the world's population, animal's being killed, not respecting the environment but everyone was just bored, France was making googly eyes at a waitress blowing kisses at her, Germany who was on the other end of the table had his leg on top of the other with his arms crossed and he seemed annoyed because America was mucking around while he was talking about things that were important and that just made Germany want to scream out loud. Italy had a black marker in his hand and he was drawing on a large paper, his brother North Italy/Romano was rolling his eyes each time he said, 'look what I've drawn, big brother!'
Japan was looking mischievously around the room with his empty brown eyes; China was playing with his Panda with Russia annoying him. Belarus was cuddled up against him with an angry face, Ukraine was next to her sister but she didn't do much at all just looked worried. Spain and Belgium were making silly faces at each other but Netherland that was sitting next to his younger sister was making angry faces at Spain and it was seriously creeping him out. Oh, and I forgot to mansion that Greece and Turkey were gritting their teeth as they were smashing their foreheads together like rivals in-between Japan and that just made him sigh and think, 'why can't they get along with each other?'
And lastly there were our two main characters of the story, England and Hungary. They were facing each other without looking at each other and that was just plain sad. England had a huge frown on his forehead and his eyes were looking but he wasn't angry or anything, just annoyed at France.
'Alright little dudes! We have an enormous situation here! Nearly all of our country are facing terrible situation and we have to fix it by helping each other out even if we hate each other we have to do it for OUR country! Got that countries?!'
'Yeah..!' They all said in a floppy kind of way because some of those countries' DO hate each other, especially Greece and Turkey, France and England, Prussia and Hungary. Yeah you get the point.

The meeting was over and everyone started to gather their stuff to leave. Germany, Italy and North Italy were the first ones to walk out the door, and then walked out the rest of the countries, in the middle of the door way Prussia put his out in Hungary's way.
'Stop!' He ordered her. She looked at him and blinked. 'What is it?' Hungary followed Prussia's eyes as they moved to look at England who was gathering papers around the table and he looked empty and depressed somehow.
'What is it Prussia?'
'Go and talk to him.'
'Huh?' He kept on blinking because she surely didn't understand and that made Prussia sigh.
'Let me tell you slowly. Go. And. Talk. To. England. Who. Happens. To. Be. Your. Long. Time. Friend,' he made it more clearly at this point, Hungary looked at the ground then back at England and thought, 'what happened to our friendship?' and to be completely honest she actually have thought about that before but she never found an answer to it other than, 'I don't have time to play childish game. I'm too busy with these forms and I need to take responsibility for my country.' But that was a pathetic excuse but England told himself the same thing.
'I won't be waiting for you. See you at the next meeting.' He waved goodbye and so did she before turning around. She took a long deep breath and walked towards America's seat.
'Hi, Arthur…' He lift his head up and saw her. His best friend, and for the first time in his life he saw how nervous she was around him, but the problem was Hungary was never so shy around him, she used to be full of energy and it felt like she could tell him anything when they were younger.
'How are thing in Hungary, Elizaveta?'
'Oh, things are great, the population is starting to come down which is good and everybody is healthy, well, sure they don't have a lot of money but everyone seems happy, I am also trying my best to help but I'm a little busy with form to fill so… you know. Same old, same old.' She wasn't so sure when she finished her sentence. He heard her giggle as if she was uncomfortable and her eyes were closed which means she was dodging his eye contact. 'What's new with you? Are thing going great in England?'
'Yeah, things are going wonderfully well, I'm spending more time outside the palace than before, I'm helping those who need my help, everything's just fine but something missing.'
'What's that? If you don't mind me asking?'
'Not at all,' he placed the papers on the table with a soft bang and took a couple of steps towards her until his arms were wrapped around her, pressing his hands against her back to pull her in closer and when their chest touched he calmed his entire body down and whispered, 'I've missed spending alone time with you…' Her arms automatically went around his neck and she smiled, then she grinned and softly laughed as she rested her head on his shoulder.
'Big brother! BIG BROTHER!!!' Someone from the outside doors yelled out. England managed to get out of Hungary's lovely embrace and sighed. But it wasn't a depressing or sad or angry or even annoyed kind of sigh. He bent down and put his arms out and the minute that large wooden door opened a beautiful young girl rushed into the room and ran into England's arms the second she saw him.
'I missed you so much, big brother! Did you miss me?' She asked, pulling onto his collar with a little bit of force.
'Of course I've missed you Gwendoline! You're my baby sister.' She jumped out of his arms and smiled as her hands reached her face and the bit of red that was attacking her cheeks was totally noticeable.
'Huh?' Hungary cleared her throat. 'You're not going to introduce me, Arthur?'
'Sorry. Umm, Hungary I present to you my sister Norwich. Her name is Gwendoline but people call her Gwen for short.'
'Nice to meet you, ma'am,' Norwich said in absolute kindness, she also held out her hand and Hungary shook it proudly. 'It's a pleasure to meet you, too Norwich.'
'Are you really the girl that used to play with my big brother when you were younger than me?'
Hungary simply nodded and placed her hand back to her side. 'Yes I am. Your brother and I have known each other ever since we were little and I was really attached to him, so attached I used to call him big brother.'
'Really?! Well, I never knew you were so pretty but you have a weird accent. Why can't you speak normally like big brother and I do?'
Hungary found that a little offensive but she was a little girl after all so she answered without any complain. 'That's because I'm from Hungary and I'm not really used to speak English, you see?'
'Oh, I understand.'
'Well, umm, sorry to leave so suddenly but me and Norwich have to go back to Britain. I'll see you- I mean we'll see you soon Hungary. Bye'
'Alright. Oh, umm, Arthur?'
'Yes?'
'Your papers?'
'Oh! Right, thanks for reminding me.' He quickly grabbed the papers in one arm and carried Norwich with the other where she rested her head on top of his with her right arm around the back of his neck.

It was around 2 in the morning in London and as usual England was in bed with he's little sister Norwich tucked in beside him. They seemed in peace until the stupid phone that was sitting on the dusty desk rang. Norwich groaned and rolled over to the other side, putting her arm inside the pillow case, England placed his hand on the desk to try to find the phone and then grabbed it in his palm.
'Hello?' He said in a weak tone.
'Britain! Dude! You have to come over here and see this new plane I just build!'
'America… America… You know you're yelling right?'
'Of course I am! Now… COME ON!!!'
'I'll be on- Urhh?' England pulled the phone away from his ear and he heard America hang up on the other line. He placed the phone back onto the desk and his head fell back on the pillow. He put his legs back inside the blanket and brang it up to his chin. He turned his head and saw his little sister fast asleep, she looked really comfortable. He looked back at the ceiling and sighed hopelessly and turned off the light then went back to sleep and that took forever until he finally did.

Sunrise was near to come and Norwich seemed to be awake at 7 in the morning, England was still sleeping like a peaceful little baby, and he was hugging a large pillow with the blanket covering half his body. Norwich jumped out of bed and skipped her way around it; she bent down and placed her arms crossed on the edge of the bed, watching her brother sleeping and she giggled. He started to move over and rolled onto his back.
Norwich stood up and walked a couple of steps back and when her back finally touched the cool wall she immediately ran as fast as she could before jumping on her brother's stomach.
'Wake up big brother! WAKE! UP!'
'ARH! Norwich, I'm tied!'
Norwich turned her head toward west when she heard two knocks on the door.
'Come in!'
'What the hell are you doing?!' Before the door was fully opened England quickly sat up and tried to act as normal and as awake as he possibly could with Norwich attached to his arm.
'Miss Kirkland. Mr Kirkland. Breakfast is nearly ready.'
'Right. Thank-you,' Said England with a small bow.
'By the way, miss Kirkland?'
'Yes ma'am?'
'Would you like fresh honey on your pancakes or boiled caramel?'
'Boiled caramel please ma'am!'
'Alright then miss Kirkland. When will you be ready?'
'In less than 15 minutes.'
'Alright-y Miss Kirkland.' Before the maid left she dropped off two clean piles of clothes on the chair that was near the closet. England smiled at her and shook his head once and she returned his smile.
Norwich walked off the bed and stood in front of her brother and asked, 'are you going to use the bedroom shower?'
'Hmm? Oh, no, you can use it Gwen.'
'Ok big brother,' Norwich grabbed her pile of clothes and rushed herself into the bathroom and locked the door.
England grabbed the phone and dialled America's number and after 4 rings someone picked up with a 'hello?'
'Hey Alfred? It's Arthur.'
'Dude! Where are you, I've been waiting for you for nearly 5 hours!'
'Hehe… Sorry America but when you called IT WAS 2 IN THE MORNING!!!'
'Yeah? Well it's 3 in the morning here. Now get your ass over here!
'I'm sorry I can't.'
'You're not cool dude! I thought you had your own plane?'
'I do but as you can see IT'S NOT AVAILABLE!!!' He sighed. 'I'll probably come in the afternoon with Norwich?'
'What's a "Norwich"?'
'Norwich is my little sister, but her names Gwendoline.'
'Ah! I see now, does she beg you to marry her like Belarus with Russia?' England heard him laugh over the phone and he sighed again with disappointment. To make him stop that idiotic laughter, England cleared his throat. 'Anyway… No! My sister isn't like that besides she's only fourteen years old.'
'And how old are you?'
'I'm 23. Seriously you should know that by now Alfred!'
'I'm sorry Britain. Anyhow, anywho, I'm exhausted. All-nighters out, bye and goodnight or good day or whatever!'
England pressed the "End" button and thought to himself about what America said, 'I don't think that idiot knew that "anywho" wasn't a word. Oh well' He shrugged and threw the phone back onto the desk and walked out the door with his clothes around his left arm.

Norwich got out of her bathroom first. Her lovely long hair was all brushed and put up into a high pony-tail; her wear was a little different. A black-ish grey skirt jumper with three buttons on each side (lined up perfectly), a white long-sleeved shirt that covers her palm and short-heeled ankle boots. Quite normal for some but it was really 50's or 60's like but if Gwendoline liked it, it was fair.
'Good morning miss Kirkland,' bowed the maid at the bottom of the stairs.
'Good morning! Oh, has my brother come down yet?'
'Yes, Mr Kirkland is already sitting at the dinner table waiting for you.'
'Ok, thank-you, by the way ma'am?'
'Yes malady?'
'Will it be ok if you'd phone to Hungary and ask for Miss Héderváry?'
'Currently.'
'Thank-you ma'am! Now if you'd excuse me I'll be having breakfast with my older brother.'
'Go ahead malady.'

'Good morning big brother!' Norwich pulled out the chair and sat down, balancing her legs under her chair.
'Good morning to you too Gwen. How'd you sleep?'
'Like a baby. You?'
'Pretty much the same until the phone rang at two.'
'In the morning?'
'No Gwen, in the afternoon. Of course in the morning! Alfred phoned me to come over to America to see this new plane he just built.'
'AMERICA!!! Ooh, ooh, can we go?! Please Arthur! Oh, please!'
'Alright but we won't go now, I have some things to do.'
'Like what?'
'I still have a couple of papers to sign but I'll be nearly done.' Norwich looked down at her food and started eating without another word. And by the looks of it she didn't seem to want to talk to her brother anymore. England grabbed the sugar and poured some over his bacon, just a little to flavour it a bit.
'Listen, I'm really sorry Gwendoline but-'
'I know… You're busy, heard it before thanks…'
'Gwen-'
'Malady?'
'Hmm?' Norwich swallowed the bit of food that was in her mouth and turned her legs around as so her body and looked up at the maid. 'Yes?'
'Miss Héderváry said that she'll be available around the afternoon or sooner if it's ok with you?'
'Yeah it's fine. Thank-you,' She turned back around and grabbed the basket of mini-breads.
'Mr Kirkland?'
Yes? What is it?'
'You got a call from your father. I told him you were having breakfast and he said to call him back.'
'Thank-you ma'am I will.' England finished his late two bites and stood behind his chair. He walked around the table to get to his sister's chair and bent down with his hand on top of Norwich's head.
'I'll be back, ok?'
'Fine… And say to dad I said "hi" for me please!'
'Sure thing sweetie,' she smiled and turned to her food, moving her head slowly to the right and to the left and felt like a special kid. Well, she was, her family was rich, she was spoiled, she had everything except her brother by her side. And that made her a little angry; to him it was always work, work, work and it was getting really annoying to her, all her life she was alone, not one friend other than WY and her little brother Sealand. Norwich never really had her brother around, only around Breakfast, lunch and dinner but those went on quickly and it was disappointing when he had to leave back to work.

A knock suddenly appeared on the door; Norwich wiped her mouth with a serviette and jumped out of chair.
'Coming!'
When the door was half opened Norwich saw a familiar face sticking out. 'Hello, Gwen!'
'Uncle Tino!' Yelled out Norwich, jumping into his arms and giving Finland a welcoming embrace. Finland wasn't really her uncle; he was just a close family friend, he used to take care of her when England couldn't. Finland grabbed Norwich by the under arms and placed her on his shoulder.
'How are you, Gwendoline?'
'Great! What about you Uncle?'
'I'm pretty good myself. Is your brother home?'
'As always. He's in the library, why?'
'Well, I haven't seen your brother in a long time and I want to say hello.'
'His actually on the phone with my father. Talking about Business I suppose,' she sighed.
'You don't seem too happy about it, huh?'
'I'm not happy about it at all. To big brother it's always work, work, work, and work! He doesn't seem to care about me!' Finland understood what she was saying; he placed her on her two feet and placed his hands on her shoulders. 'I understand what you're going through Gwen but your brother is 23 years old and when you'll be around his age or perhaps a little younger you'll also be taking those responsibilities with your brother. That's how life is, hun'
'But I don't want to be heartless like my brother when I grow up; I don't want to be careless and worthless! Sure, I'd take over the country but I don't want to be the girl who has to sign papers all my life!'
'You're not the only one Gwen, when I was your age I was also complaining about how life was, it wasn't really fair to work all day long until dinner arrived but I got used to it but now I don't work as much anymore, in Finland everything is calmer,' He explained. 'Well, I'll be in the library with your brother if you're looking for me. Ok?' She just nodded. He stroked her hair smoothly before he left and disappeared into the dark hallway. Norwich leaned herself against the wall and sighed.
Then when she balanced herself off, she heard another familiar voice call her out. She turned around and saw a girl running towards the house with a large smile on her face. She was wearing a pair of brown jean-shorts, a tank-top with a pink smock, a Band-Aid on her forehead, and a red ascot that looks a little too large for her thin neck. Her hair is fastened in a curly side-pony tail and her scrunchie had a flower on it. And with that very long/thick paint brush in her hand Norwich knew it was WY.
'WY!!!' Norwich wanted to walk towards her but it was too late WY had her arms wrapped around her waist and squeezing her tightly.
'I've missed you SO MUCH my lovely Gwendoline!'
'I've missed you even more WY!' They both let each other go and Norwich gave her two kisses on her cheeks to welcome her.
'Come in, come in, would you like anything? Water? Tea? Any soda?'
'Umm, no thank-you, I'm fine.'
'Sure?'
'I'm sure. So how's life in England?'
'The usual… Boring and quite sad. How about you in Australia?'
'Umm, in Australia things are ok, I guess… The prices are getting higher every year and some people aren't really that polite either, you see. But it's cool.'
'Ok, if you say so.'
'Hey, where's Britain? I-I mean Arthur?'
'Big brother is with Tino in the library.'
'I was wondering where he went. Tino went along so fast I lost track and I couldn't catch up until I saw the door wide open!'
'And you're lucky because I was about to close it.'
'You're so mean, Gwen!'

It wasn't long after Finland and England got out of the library. Norwich stood up and jumped into her brother's arms.
'What did dad say?'
'The usual.'
'Oh… About business, right?' England nodded and grabbed his little sister by the waist lifting her high up. 'What do you want to do today?'
'I thought you had papers to sign?'
'I have all night long to sign them, besides Finland told me what you said about me being careless and worthless!'
'Hehe, I might have over reacted on that subject.'
'Should we get going WY?' Asked Finland. She looked at him and pressed herself against England back with her hands touching Norwich's arms. 'Can't we stay a little longer?'
'No, I'm so sorry WY but we have to get going,' Norwich jumped out of England's arms and asked, 'why do you need to leave so soon?'
'That's because if I don't bring WY back to Australia he brother will get worried, now let's go you little devil!' He pulled her away from England and placed her behind his neck with her feet touching his chest.
'See you two later alright?'
'Alright!' They both said as they watched them leave. England closed the door and looked at Norwich who was putting the packet of cards away.
'So? What would you like to do?' After putting them away, she turned to him and shrugged. 'I don't know big brother but I'm actually waiting for someone'
'Someone? Who?'
'Hungary.'
'H-Hung-HUNGARY???'
'Yes. I thought the three of us might have fun. Was that a bad idea?'
'It's just… I don't want you to interrupt Elizaveta.'
'Don't worry about that, she said she'll be here around the afternoon or sooner, besides I was told that ever since you were little you were the bestest friends the world would know and when you became older you started to lose contact with each other and forgot that indeed you were best friends,' England was surprised but what she said was all true and it bought a little bit of sadness in him as he thought about it and she immediately noticed so she placed her palm on his cheek and stood on her toes to give him a small kiss on his forehead. 'I didn't mean to make you upset. Don't worry though, I'm sure spending time with her again will be a blissing, right?'
'You're probably right, Gwen. You know that you're the cutest and most nicest little sister a big brother could ever want?'
'Na-ha. I love you big brother!'
'I love you, too'
'But you love Hungary the most, am I correct?' Something snapped inside England, something wasn't right and when Norwich pulled back from his embrace his expression was still she saw his face heat up. It was turning as red as a tomato then-
'IN LOVE WITH HUNGARY??? W-where'd you get that FROM?'
'But big brother… It's so obvious that you two love each other. Just like uncle Tino used to say "Like two peas-in-a-pod" '
'Well, next time I see your uncle Tino, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind! Because I know that Elizaveta and I are not in love!' And with that he crossed his arms and sat down on the high chair with his leg over the other. Norwich sighed and shook her head. She heard the knock bell this time and when she took a couple of steps towards the door and opened it, Hungary was standing outside with her arms behind her back and with a warm 'good morning' sort of smile on her face.
'Elizaveta! You came a little early; I thought you had a lot of things going on in Hungary?'
'I got it covered don't worry Norwich.'
'You can call me Gwendoline or just Gwen if you'd like?'
'Well… Umm, S-sure Gw-Gwen..'
"S-so cute!" She thought. Hungary closed the door behind her and entered the house. England stood up and bowed to greet her in.
'Umm, since Gwen invited me over I thought I'd bring some snacks I specially made. Is that ok with you?'
'Yeah, no, it's fine! Besides we didn't have a proper breakfast so it's a good thing you bought snakes for lunch,' he chuckled nervously.
'Yes! Thank-you very much Elizaveta!'
'It wasn't a problem besides I know that little girls like you like to eat delicious snakes! I was just like you when I reached your age, you know?'
'That is so true, especially if their home-made, their best!' Hungary patted her hair and placed the basket on the long dinner table. She swirled around and bent down. 'I suppose but you never know what people can put in their food when it's home-made- huh? Why are you looking at me like?'
'Did you put anything in those snacks?' Norwich asked with narrowed eyes, lowered eyebrows, her face expression like a guard and hands flat on her hips. Hungary was a little uncomfortable and she felt little sweat drops on the side of her forehead. 'N-No… don't worry I'm not like that at all'
'Gwendoline Kirkland! Where are your manners?'
'I'm sorry Elizaveta; I didn't mean to judge you… Hug?'
'Ok doll,' Norwich jumped into her arms making Hungary nearly fall off the ground.
'That's better! Anyway as I asked you before Gwen. What would you like to do?
'I was thinking about the park?'
'Sounds like a good idea to me, besides we can have picnic if we're hungry too.'
'Right, let's go!' She said all cheerfully. Norwich handed the basket back to Hungary and crawled up England's back; he accepted that forcible request and decided to give her a piggy-back.
